September 10, 1966

Why did you leave your country/State/former place of residence?

It was a pass. That they gave me so that I could visit my aunts in Philadelphia.

What did you like/dislike about your home/country?

I like everything about my country.

Why did you choose Philadelphia/U.S?

My bosses gave me a free pass, because I was a good worker and always showed respect.

How did you travel here? /What type of transportation did you use/take to travel here? How would you change that?

By airplane.

How did you find a place to live in Philly?

From one of my aunts best friends.

With whom did you travel? [Who did you travel with?]

By myself.

Give 1 thing you remember most about your home town and why?

What I remember about my country was that it was beautiful.

How did your life change when you moved and what were the differences between the two places?

My life didn't change because I'm the same person.

What was the difference between Philly and your old home?

The different between the two places, Philly is more problems and Guatemala everyone is friendly.

What did you expect about the US/Philly?

I thought it was going to be more violent.

What did you come here to accomplish and what else do you feel you still need to do?

I came here to become a millionaire.

What are the differences between when you came here and now?

Nothing, because I'm still the same person.

What did you sacrifice/leave behind when you left?

I left behind my family.

What problems did you encounter coming to the US/Philly?

There were no problems coming here.

How much money did you have and where did you get it when you came to PhillylUS?

I use to work were I was from.

How did you adapt to your new environment?

Because I'm very calm.

Why do you think it was worth all your changes?

It was worth all my changes because if I would have never came to Philadelphia I would have never met my husband.

What education did you have before/after you arrived?

My education was to respect others.

Do you {ever} regret moving? Why or why not?

No, I don't regret moving. I still feel like the same person, and that I'm going to keep being the same person.

What reason would/could make you go back to where you came from.

If my mother were alive.

Describe your first job here. If you didn't have one, how did you get money?

I was a sewing machine operator.

Is there anything you would like to add?

That I will like everything to go back to the 60s, or when I was a little girl.
