Nam Ho Tran.

Vietnamese.

Where were you born?
Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.
When did you (move to the U. S./move from somewhere else in the U.S.) To Philadelphia?
I moved to Philly in June of 1995.
Why did you leave your country/state/former place of residence?
Because I have no freedom in my country.
What did you like/dislike about your home/country?
I like the peoples and food, I dislike the weather because is too hot.
Why did you choose Philadelphia/U.S?
Because U.S. is a freedom place, and Philadelphia got a lot of jobs.
How did you travel here? What type of transportation did you use/take to travel here?
I travel here by plane.
How did you find a place to live in Philly?
My uncle rented a house for us.
With whom did you travel?
I travel with my parents, an older brother and a younger sister.
Give 1 thing you remember most about your home town and why?
I think the most thing I remember in my home town is my house because I growed-up in that house.
How did your life change when you moved and what were the differences between the two places?
The difference is the time, because if over here is morning then over there is night.
What did you expect about the U. S./Philly?
Actually I didn't expect anything.
What did you come here to accomplish and what did you feel you still need to do?
To make more money, buy big house and new cars.
What are the differences between when you came here and now?
The differences are when I came here I don't have no friend, and now I have a lot of friends. When I came here I rented a house but now I have my own house.
What did you sacrifice/leave behind when you left?
My two aunts and my lovely house.
What problems did you encounter coming to the U.S./Philly?
The problem is we don't have much money when we first came to Philadelphia.
How much money did you have and where did you get it when you came to Philly/U.S?
We only had 80 dollars.
How did you adapt to your new environment?
Well, by the time pass by, I get used after awhile.
Why do you think it was worth all your changes?
I think it good to change. Change is good, it's make thing more better.
What education did you have before/after you arrived?
I was in middle School.
Do you ever regret moving? Why or why not?
To me, I think I Won't be regret to moved over hem because I would have a better life over here.
What reason would/could make you go back to where you came from?
The only reason I would go back to Viet Nam is because my lovely house and my peoples.
Describe your first job here. If you didn't have one, how did you get money?
I was nervous and scared when I got my first job here.
