Photos

Here you'll find some of my favorite photos.
Click on thumbnail to see the individual image full size,
Click on the link to see all photos.
Note: Most of the pictures are on Shutterfly though some are on FaceBook.

Note: Shutterfly has changed its services. They still will make my pictures available on the web but will not have a unique URL address. To anyone viewing my pictures, however, this won't make much of a difference.

The links on this page will still work. When you reach the album, you'll have the choice of seeing them in thumbnail size, full size (by double-clicking them, then using the arrow key to advance through the album) or select "Slideshow" and the pictures will cycle through with no effort - or control - on your part.

Note also: I am in the process of making the changes and it is something of a race against time. Many albums have been updated, others will soon be, therefore, if you get a "Page Not Found" error that's the reason. I apologize and I'll have them all fixed, shortly.

As part of this change, I've discovered the "Sharing" works fine on desk/lap top computers but doesn't work on iPhones. I'm in the process of working with Shutterfly to cope with this problem.

The most recent albums are at the top.

Shortly after I retired in 2003 I started volunteering at Non-Profit Technology Resources (NTR). This was a great experience for me as for the first time I got a chance to get my hands dirty - really just VERY dusty!

After a while I discovered that NTR was not only training people to fix computers & selling them but they were GIVING them away to school students. A little light went off, "Ah HA! Edison!" I got in touch with my colleague who taught the Bilingual program & we got the ball rolling so that we eventually got over 200 Edison/Fareira students their own computer.

Nilza's husband had a connection with Channel 6 in Philly & eventually, they came to visit on a day a group of Edison/Fareira students came to learn about their computers before they took them home.

I recently got copies of the original TV presentation and here are two versions of it - originally on video tape.

One is a M4V file (59 megs), the other a MOV file (231 megs) NOTE: The MOV version starts off with some "static" but don't worry - it's NOT your computer.

Many thanks to Lou Lozada for moving this from video tape.

GL_2024_10.JPG (2475834 bytes)A surprise trip to the Great Lakes.

It was a surprise in that while we were on the cruise to Scotland, we received an offer that was impossible to refuse and in October we were off on a "great" tour of the lakes from Toronto to Chicago with some unexpected stops in Cincinnati, Detroit and Waukegan.

However, the greatest part of the trip was the totally unexpected view of the Aurora Borealis - the Northern Lights that we were able to see in the middle of a lake and that's why I selected on of this photos as my feature from this album.

Share this trip with us on Shutterfly.

2024_E!FRetireeLunch.JPG (4978325 bytes)The annual Edison/Fareira Retirees Luncheon was held again and here are some of the pics of the event.

2024_Scotland.JPG (5837784 bytes)In June we went on a Tauck Tour cruise of Scotland. The weather was hardly what we'd consider "summery," but the sights were beautiful and the cruise part especially delightful.

One of the most exciting times we had was our closing dinner on Queen Elizabeth's former Royal Yacht, Britannia.

Take a look at our pics so that you can share our experience. To see the videos of the brief time of "roiling seas," go to Facebook - you don't have to be a member. If a "sign in" box appears, just click on the X and you'll be able to play the videos.

Those of you who are Outlander followers will find the pics of the "standing stones" particularly interesting - but no, we didn't have any time travel experiences.

2004

I've discovered that there were some of our trips that weren't shared here, so, rather late in the day, I'm correcting that defficit.

2003

barcelona2003.jpg (564923 bytes)In August, we visited Barcelona for the first time. The city is astounding, starting with the The Sagrada Familia and including the other great works by Gaudi in the city.

Everywhere you look there are interesting buildings, people and places.

Share our pictures on Shutterfly.

Alaska_GlacierBay.jpg (1304108 bytes)In August we took one of our most fantastic trips: Alaska. The state is enormous so we just had to take a bite of it: we went from Juno to Glacier Bay and many small towns and cities along the way. Most of the trip was by small ship but one of the highlights was the White River Rail Road excursion.

See it all.

Williamburg_2003.JPG (595870 bytes)We've been to Williamsburg, Va twice. These are the pictures from our second trip in the summer of 2003.

The biggest difference we noticed was the shift to make a point that since this city existed in Colonial times and especially in Virginia, there was finally an effort to explain the part Blacks played in the city. There were many "interpreters" who did an excellent job of explaining what had, until then, been a hidden part of the city's history.

See our pictures.

Shots of me (and a few others) from the yearbooks of Kensington, Lamberton & Edison/Fareira High Schools - and some even older.

The laughter will please be kept to a minimum!

The photos are on FaceBook but you don't have to join to see them.

I received this Christmas card. I know I'm just one of a million who is on the list but it's neat, never the less. Looks like I'll have to send him one next year!
